Vortex definitely under sells and over delivers on this, way better than advertised. Would be perfect for 95% of hunters. Only reason you’d need more is if you’re hunting out west wife wide open spaces needing more than 1000 yards for ranging.

After much research, I pulled the trigger on the Crossfire HD. The main reason was Vortex's no-fault lifetime warranty. I also wanted one that I would use for decades. There are less expensive ones on the market, but I went with the "buy once, cry once" philosophy and have not been disappointed. Have tried it in various venues including the deer stand, and I love it.Likes: lots to like1) Compact size: small, fits comfortably in one hand, with tactile rubberized gripping surfaces2) Buttons: the menu and measure button are far enough apart to prevent confusion3) Diopter: allows sharp image focusing4) Battery: a competitor uses an internal rechargeable battery and reviewers think that is an advantage. It isn't. Rechargeable batteries eventually die out completely and cannot be replaced. The entire product is permanently inoperable. The Vortex uses a CR2 battery, included, and eliminates this problem5) Refined Measurements: since I use this product for set distances for rifle and pistol shooting its ability to measure in tenths of a yard (up to 1,000 yds) is very nice6) Accuracy: at close ranges I verified its measurements with a yardstick and it was spot on. At longer distances it even gave accurate reading on slanted terrain.7) Carrying Pouch & Lanyard: convenient and versatile8) Manual: sensibly written and helpful9) Warranty: unbeatable lifetime, transferable warranty, even if you drop it and it breaks10) Features: doesn't have unnecessary features such as bullet drop compensators, etc. This keeps the price down and simplifies the operation of the productDislikes: very little to dislike on this product1) Although it has 5 brightness settings for the LED readouts, they cannot be changed instantaneously. You have to first activate the menu and go to the third selection of the menu. They should have made it the first selection, since this setting will probably be changed more often than the others, given the constantly changing sunlight.2) Magnification: the magnification is 5x whereas most in this range are 6x. That's just a minor nit as it increases field of view.Final thoughts: buy it!

Very well constructed. Came with its carrying case and it’s super accurate. Functional in wet weather. I was able to get reading on moving target. Control buttons are easily accessible. Has functionality in high temperatures

This unit has high-vis. display, all the range most shooters need, angle compensation, and the V.I P. warranty. At this price point you can't lose.
